National Champions Portal
NLnet foundation is a public benefit organisation with a proud history of being at the genesis of the introduction of the internet in Europe — Read more.
NLnet is fiercely independent, but collaboration is key to success. In order to achieve our goal of creating an open information society, we work together with aligned people and organisations around the globe. Our work is sustained by donations, grants and contributions from private individuals, NGO's and other foundations, enterprises and public sector organisations such as the European Commision and several governments (e.g. France, The Netherlands) — your donation is welcome too!
NLnet has an intrinsic commitment to privacy, and we shield off our grantees from unnecessary exposure to the outside world. We neve shares any information or grantees with 3rd parties (unless of course we have asked and explicitly have been given permission to e.g. make an introduction). See our privacy statement.
NLnet is the driving force behind NGI Zero, a series of grantmaking programmes which is part of the Next Generation Internet initiative of the European Commission's DG CNECT.
We do not waste money on advertising, which is why we welcome the help of anyone that wants to help increase the visibility of our work. One of the obvious parties for making our work better known are the members of the IDEAL-IST network, which consists of National Contact Points in a large number of countries. In order to support the IDEAL-IST community in promoting both the grant opportunities within the open calls from NGI Zero programmes, as well as promoting the outcomes of these projects (always digital commons: open standards, free and open source software and hardware, open data, open science), NLnet has created a dedicated portal which provides each of these National Contact Points with an 'always fresh' overview of projects involving participants from their respective countries.
The information within this non-public portal is the same as on https://nlnet.nl/project, but with one additional functionality: once national representatives are logged in, the national contact points can send a direct message to projects, in order to e.g. invite them to speak at a local event, feature them in a newsletter, etc. Obviously, it is up to the recipient to act: as mentioned before, we do not expose private information, nor do we require grantees to expose themselves — but of course it would be unwise to withold such opportunities to the people that are receptive to them. Access is restricted to official representatives of IDEAL-IST. If you believe you are entitled to get access, please contact us.
